September 20, 2008 Ipo Dam, Bulacan
It was a yearly tradition at IBS, as I heard, and this was the first time I joined them because I was a part of the club. It was a day of mud, water, trees, lots of mountains, hiking and me being the wimpiest and dirtiest IBMer at the end of the day. :P
Okay, FINE, so I had wrong expectations. I thought we were going to do some planting in a nice grassy plain. Or it wouldn't be as muddy (darn rains). And that I wouldn't have...OH, so many "accidents" that I couldn't count anymore which led me to all the screaming, shouting and mud cleaning after the end of the activity? :P
And to further embarrass myself more...here is the list of accidents that happened for me that day:
1. As I was disembarking the boat, I accidentally submerged my right foot (in rubber shoes, socks and jeans) in water. O_O 2. I was trying to get to solid land from the boat, so one of the guides in the place helped me cross over...and I accidentally pulled him into the water. >_> 3. I was going around the mountains trying to get to seedlings and plant them when I slipped on my butt. Only one guy saw me though. :P 4. And then I slipped again. 5. On the way down, I had to have one of the guides help me around since my shoes are SO slippery. 6. On our way back, I was walking to solid ground but still had very very bad balance...when I submerged my left foot in a puddle of mud. T_T
And here's the clincher -- I was wearing my mom's rubber shoes that day. O_O
You know how whenever there's a camping trip and there's always this person who just gets into whatever accidents and would require a lot of help? That was me yesterday. Oh, I didn't really mind getting too dirty, except for the fact that I have somewhere else to go after...but I really felt like such a wimp after. =)) Ah the joys of being an IBMer and an IBM Club member. Go lang! Thank you to all the guys and girls who helped me around even if I screamed half the time, most especially to Tin who helped me around. :D Thank you to all the people who tolerated my screaming and yells. Thank you to Rain who helped me clean my shoes at the office while we talked. :D
Oh, I did manage to plant trees, so it wasn't a waste of a day. AND MAN WHAT A WORK OUT. :))
Will I do this again next year? Most probably. But you can bet this time I'll have proper gear. And hopefully I'll be screaming less and be less accident prone. :P
